Valve Action Paint Markers
06 18th, 2009

The Brite-Mark H2O paint marker is a great, reliable option when VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) and Xylene are an issue in usage settings. Xylene is a clear, colorless, sweet-smelling liquid that is very flammable. Like many solvents, xylene can be used as an inhalant drug for its intoxicating properties. According to Wikipedia.org Xylene exhibits neurological effects. High levels from exposure for acute (14 days or less) or chronic periods (more than 1 year) can cause headaches, lack of muscle coordination, dizziness, confusion, and changes in one’s sense of balance. Exposure of people to high levels of xylene for short periods can also cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat, difficulty in breathing and other problems with the lungs, delayed reaction time, memory difficulties, stomach discomfort, and possibly adverse effects on the liver and kidneys. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemical compounds that have high enough vapor pressures under normal conditions to significantly vaporize and enter the atmosphere.

As you can see these ingredients can have serious effects when abused or used on a national or global scale. While some situations call for strong markers that exhibit these properties, they should and can be avoided whenever possible due to their effects on human health as well as the environment. Brite-Mark H20 is a great permanent marking option that offers a green alternative, without sacrificing quality, performance and longevity.

DYKEM® BRITE-MARK® H2O is a general purpose water-based marker ideal for making clear, bold markings on almost any surface in environments where VOC issues and Xylene use is a concern. DYKEM® BRITE-MARK® H2O can be used to permanently identify inventory, assemblies, tools, finished products or work-in-progress while resisting most work related abuses or compounds.

  • Vibrant colors
  • Excellent opacity
  • Not a xylene based formula
  • Low odor

Dykem Sudz Off and Rinz Off Markers Can Help Stamping & Welding Areas
01 1st, 2009

Manufacturing facilities, like automotive manufacturing environments, will often have stamping and welding operations. The stamping area  uses large presses, takes unpainted and uncoated flat steel and stamps out the individual parts. In this area Dykem Sudz off Markers can be used to mark up parts that have been stamped for quality control purposes and to provide the press operator the ability to make adjustments to the press to ensure that parts are within specifications.

Once the stamping department has stamped out the steel parts, the welding department will weld additional items to the stamped metal. Once the welds are completed, an operator can use a Dykem Sudz-Off marker to mark or “touch” these key welds. By physically marking or touching the welds it is more likely that the operator will be certain to see and verify that all of the key welds have been properly performed.

Manufacturing statistics reveal that if an operator just uses a visual review of the product they will be 76% accurate. But, if an operator uses a Dykem Sudz Off Marker to mark or “touch” the key areas they will be accurate about 98% of the time.

Once the product has been reviewed, the “touched parts” can be run through a detergent solution bath to remove the Dykem Sudz-Off marks. This bath will insure a clean surface prior to painting . Marks made with a Dykem Sudz Off Marker will not bleed through  or “ghost” after being removed  from the surface and after paint is applied to the part.

It should be noted that some environments cannot or do not want to use a detergent based product on the stamped product to remove the marks. In this case, the manufacturer can use the Dykem Rinz Off marker which can be removed with a simple water bath.

The Dykem Sudz Off and Dykem Rinz-Off Markers are manufactured in 7 different colors and contain NO Xylene.  In addition to the 7 different colors, these markers also come in two barrel and two tip styles for the numerous applications that manufacturers face daily.

Industrial Marking Pens and Permanent Markers–Distribution Facilities and All Shippers Can Reduce Their Costs
12 31st, 2008

Almost every manufacturer, distribution facility and any company that ships products use Industrial Marking Pens for some part of the shipping process. These companies use the industrial marking pens for writing shipping addresses on boxes, they use them for checking off products on a packing slip or they use an industrial marking pen for writing information on the shrink wrap that they wind around the products placed on a skid for shipping.

Almost every company uses some kind of marking pens.  The most popular markers over the last 10-20 years has been the Sharpie Permanent Marker. But, as we all know, if you leave the cap off of the Sharpie Permanent Marker overnight, the marker will be dry the next day. Marking Pen manufacturers have developed alternatives to the Sharpie pens which will not dry out overnight.

We will use this blog to highlight some of the ITW Dykem Industrial Marking Pens that have cost advantages over the Sharpie Permanent Markers and some other brands as well.

These are a sample of the large variety of Dykem Marking Pens

Industrial Marking Pens–Manufacturers Need to Reconsider Their Use
12 28th, 2008

It doesn’t seem like Industrial Marking Pens would be a big market. But, take a look the next time you are in a factory. Factories use them daily for all sorts of things. They use them to mark information on manufactured goods and they use them for quality control purposes. For example, you might see a manufacturer mark parts that they manufacture as the goods go down the manufacturering process. For example, they may mark the weld with a green dot to note that a quality control inspector has looked at the weld to determine its precision and strength.

The use of color marking pens has been around a long time, but the variety of manufacturing situations is as broad as the business world. Thus, industrial pen manufactuers like ITW Dykem have developed pens for almost every situation. We will use this blog to highlight many of the alternative industrial marking pen alternatives and especially place a lot of focus on the ITW Dykem Industrial Marking Pen solutions.

The following is a sample of some of the Dykem Pens.

These are sample of a few of the Dykem Markers
